Turow (Thauer)
Turow (German name Thauer) a small village in Lower Silesia, in the district of Wroclaw, in the municipality of Żórawina. The name comes from the name of Tur. For the first time city (as Thurou) was mentioned in 1155 year bull of Pope Hadrian IV as the property of the bishop wrocławskiego.W 1265 certain Boguslaw receives from the local parish priest Jan land adjacent to the church to the site of the village on the right niemieckim.W year 1349 village princely rights were bought by the Bishop of Wroclaw Przecław from Agnieszka widow Konradzie of Borsnitz and of her sons. By the year 1810 village was owned by the Hospitaller Order in Wroclaw.
The village crosses the busy national road No. 395 connecting Wroclaw with Strzelinem.Na place a small grocery store, bus stop and bus, railway station 1,5 km (Żórawina).
Parish Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Cemetery
At the church cemetery surrounded by a brick and stone gothic defensive wall. At the cemetery, survived a few pre-war graves. Before entering the church, right-hand, in the grass plate with cross rite.

European Tree of the Year 2015 – Vote on Oak Slav with Dębiny
From 1 of 28 February last vote for the European Tree of the Year 2015 (Tree of the Year 2015).
For qualified for the finals 14 trees from all over Europe, among them one of the Polish, and more specifically from the Lower Silesia region of the small town of Debina (district oławski, municipality Jelcz-Laskowice).
Oak Slav has about 450 years, and as they say on the contest page : “This tree is a symbol of Polish. Honors this, who for centuries fought against the Germanization of Silesia. Its origins date back to the Silesian Piast, and the name of a Slav patriotic nod in their direction. Located in the village tree Dębina, whose name is associated with the oak forests, ensures, oak that is covered by the locals worship and cherished as a living symbol of the local community. ” 🙂
Tree received almost 2700 Vote (as at 04.02.2015) and ranks fifth in the ranking.
