European Tree of the Year 2015 – Vote on Oak Slav with Dębiny
From 1 of 28 February last vote for the European Tree of the Year 2015 (Tree of the Year 2015).
For qualified for the finals 14 trees from all over Europe, among them one of the Polish, and more specifically from the Lower Silesia region of the small town of Debina (district oławski, municipality Jelcz-Laskowice).
Oak Slav has about 450 years, and as they say on the contest page : “This tree is a symbol of Polish. Honors this, who for centuries fought against the Germanization of Silesia. Its origins date back to the Silesian Piast, and the name of a Slav patriotic nod in their direction. Located in the village tree Dębina, whose name is associated with the oak forests, ensures, oak that is covered by the locals worship and cherished as a living symbol of the local community. ” 🙂
Tree received almost 2700 Vote (as at 04.02.2015) and ranks fifth in the ranking.
